Privacy Policy
Summary
- Your voice recordings never leave your iPhone.
- Your note text is stored with your account and sent to OpenAI to suggest skill cards.
- We do not show ads, track you across apps, or sell your data.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time, and your cloud data is deleted with it.
1. Who we are
Becoming ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and operated by an independent developer. This policy covers the Becoming iOS app and becomingdaily.app. Contact: [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple we receive a unique user identifier and, only if Apple shares it, an email address, which may be a private relay address.
- Your content. The text of your notes (including text transcribed from your recordings on your device), the skill cards and identities you keep, edits you make to them, and the recommendations generated for you.
- Choices and support. Your AI consent choice, and anything you include if you email us.
Information created when you use the app
- Service records. Daily usage counts used for fair-use limits and the status of each organizing request.
- Technical data. Our infrastructure providers may automatically log IP addresses, timestamps and request details for security and reliability. Our own logs contain status and error codes only, never your note text.
Information that stays on your device
- Voice recordings are stored only on your iPhone and are never uploaded. Speech is transcribed on the device by Apple's speech recognition.
We do not collect advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts or health data.
3. How we use information
- To provide the app: keep your account, store and organize your notes and cards, and show recommendations.
- To generate skill-card suggestions with AI, which is a core feature you agree to before use.
- To operate the service safely: enforce fair-use limits, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To respond to you when you contact support.
We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information.
4. AI processing
When the app organizes your notes, it sends the text of your recent notes and your existing cards to OpenAI, which returns suggested skill cards. A suggestion only becomes a card if you choose to keep it, and AI never rewrites your original notes. Under OpenAI's API data terms, content sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models by default and may be retained for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse. Recordings are never sent.
5. Service providers
We share information only with providers that process it on our behalf to run the app:
- Apple: Sign in with Apple.
- Supabase: database, authentication and server functions, hosted in the United States.
- OpenAI: generating skill-card suggestions from your text.
- Cloudflare: this website and support email forwarding.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of users or the service.
6. Retention and deletion
- We keep your account data for as long as your account exists.
- Delete your account anytime in Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your account, notes, cards and recommendations from our servers, revokes the app's Sign in with Apple authorization, and removes that account's data from your device. Copies in our providers' routine backups expire on their normal schedule.
- Signing out keeps your notes on your device and does not delete your cloud data.
7. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction and export. You can view and edit your notes and cards in the app. To request a copy of your data, email us.
- Deletion. Delete your account in the app, or email us.
- AI organizing. AI is required to use the app; to stop it, sign out or delete your account.
- Usage statistics. An optional, off-by-default setting. We currently send no usage statistics; if we start, they will describe actions only, never your content.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our hosting provider. Each account can access only its own data, enforced in the database. Secret keys stay on our servers and are never included in the app. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
10. Children
Becoming is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the app and, where required, ask for your consent again.
